Not only are you stepping out of your comfort zone for one month you are helping support some of the most vulnerable women in the world.

What we can achieve with the ‘Legs 11 Campaign’

The Umbrella Foundation Australia supports programs in Nepal that give the opportunity of good health and hygiene to girls and women who work in bonded labour and live in extremely vulnerable situations.

  • Many do not access to clean running water, menstrual health products and medical support.
  • Many live and work in dangerous conditions that impact on their health and that of their children.
  • Many have been trafficked into bonded labour
  • Many are exposed to domestic violence, rape and arranged marriages
  • Many are child brides and mothers
  • Many are living with untreated prolapse uterus and fistula due to giving birth as children

By participating in the campaign, raising awareness, getting some friends on board to sponsor you in your ‘legs 11 campaign’ YOU will be giving the opportunity to these girls and women to receive access to:

  • Washable menstruation kits
  • Clean underwear
  • Soap
  • Health & Hygiene education
  • Maternal health support
  • Dignity

Since 2014 ‘The Umbrella Foundation Australia’ has been overseeing a ‘health & hygiene’ program in Nepal through our partners ‘Day’s for Girls International’ (DFG).   Our trained DFG ambassador in Nepal oversees the production of menstruation kits and accompanies our co-ordinators out in the field to deliver support to women working in the kiln factories through our  Women of the Kilns program.

Through attending the program women receive a DFG washable menstruation kit that consists of:

  • 2 pairs of underpants
  • Two waterproof winged shields
  • 8 protective absorbent liner inserts
  • Visual instruction care guide
  • 1 wash cloth

Each kit cost $10!

Currently women rely on dirty cloth during menstruation, with many suffering serious infections that can contribute to maternal health complications and in some circumstances, death.

This is an easy fix through your support…. Join us for the ‘Legs 11 Campaign’…step outside your comfort zone and help us get these basic needs to more vulnerable girls and women in Nepal.
